The Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) is the world's leading label for organically certified textiles . In the jungle of labels, it is one of the most strictly controlled and trusted. The mission of GOTS: Organically produced textiles should become part of everyday life and thus burden people, animals and the environment as little as possible during the production of textiles. The criteria that textiles must meet in order to be certified with this label relate to three categories:

• Environment : certain materials may not be used (e.g. PVC, nickel, chrome) and the manufacturing companies must be able to demonstrate an environmental protection program.
• Technical quality monitoring and strict regulation of potentially toxic substances.
